“Hot Dogs and Hot Rods Car Show” to Support Valley View Skate Park Renovation

BLOOMINGTON, MN., June 30, 2011 – Friends of Bloomington Skate Park, in partnership with Bobby & Steve’s Youth Foundation and the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Division, will host the “Hot Dogs and Hot Rods” car show to benefit the Valley View Skate Park on August 27.

The event, which is planned to feature more than 100 vintage and restored classic cars, will raise money to support the renovations to the Valley View Skate Park scheduled for the fall of 2011. The skatepark, constructed in 2004, provides a safe and positive environment for local youth interested in skateboarding and BMX biking.

Event details

Free to the public, the “Hot Dogs and Hot Rods Car Show” will be held at the Valley View Skate Park, located at 90th Street and Portland Avenue in Bloomington, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on August 27.

In addition to the hot rods, attendees will see displays of classic skateboards, BMX bicycles and exhibitions in the skatepark. ‘Crankshaft,’ a one man blues band, will provide live entertainment 1 to 2 p.m. The event will conclude with “Cruise the Park,” as exhibited cars “cruise” the service road from the south parking lot and exit the north entrance

Attendees can win door prizes drawn in a free contest throughout the day and a grand prize will be awarded at the conclusion of the event. Volunteers from Bobby & Steve’s Youth Foundation and Friends of Bloomington Skate Park will provide concessions, serving food and beverages.
